Dr. Shanon had made a name for himself. He was an excellent surgeon and people came from far and near to be operated by him. He charged anything like one lakh for a surgery. But he was also a kindhearted gentleman and treated many poor patients.
One day Salman, a very poor man, came to the doctor who took pity on him and operated on him. When he recovered, Salman felt very bad that he was freely operated. He wanted to pay Dr. Shanon. But the doctor said, “It’s okay, don’t bother.” But when Salman insisted to know his fees the doctor replied, “One lakh.” Salman knew he could never get so much to pay the doctor. He thanked Dr. Shanon profusely and left gratefully.
God’s salvation is free. We cannot give anything to God and merit our salvation. We have to accept it as a free gift from God.
