There lived a wicked snake in the village of Swapnapuri. It used to bite the people and terrify them. So the whole village gathered and went to the Sadhu who lived in that village. They complained about the snake to the Sadhu and requested him to advise the snake. So the Sadhu called the snake and had a talk. He counseled the snake not to harm anyone.
One week later the snake came to the Sadhu with a long face. He told the Sadhu, “Sir, you told me not to bite the people or harm them. So I have become very harmless. But see now what they do. They throw stones at me and pull my tail. You only must tell me the solution to this problem.” The Sadhu said, “Harre, I told you only not to bite the people. I never told you not to hiss.”
The snake was very happy and went away. Thereafter if anybody came near to hurt him, he would hiss. Children and people got scared and ran away. Now the people were safe and the snake was comfortable.
Jesus said we must be harmless as the dove and wise as the snake.
