There was a jobless man in a village and they got him married. One day the wife Rucku told her husband Kittu, “Why don’t you take up some work? Why are you lazy?” Kittu replied, “I am planning to buy a goat. Ask your father to give me a loan and I’ll repay it.”
“What will you do with the goat?” enquired Rucku. Kittu replied, “The goat will grow up and yield many kids. I will sell those kids and buy a cow. We can sell the milk and earn a lot, drink coffee every day and also give my sick father a cup of milk every day.”
Rucku responded, “We can also give milk to my mother who lives in the next street.” Kittu became angry and shouted, “Why should we give milk to your mother?” Both of them started to scream and shout and fight.
On hearing the noise the neighbor came running. He understood that they were fighting over a dream cow that had not yet been bought. At the top of his voice he shouted. “Hey Kittu, your cow is eating away my garden. You should pay for the loss.” Kittu was terrified. “I have not bought a cow yet and you have no garden. How can my dream cow eat away your nonexistent garden?” he asked.
“If you have not yet bought a cow how can Rucku send milk to her mother? That’s how your dream cow can destroy my garden,” replied the wise neighbor.
Kittu and Rucku put their heads down in shame and realized how they were fighting over nothing.
If we are thoughtful we can avoid a lot of fighting.
