A man received an invitation from a sister named Mary to come and speak in the prayer meeting she conducted at her home. The preacher agreed and on the said day started off for her house. He reached her town. He had her address in his hand and so he came searching for her house and entered the street where she lived. There was the street tap that she had mentioned and he knew he was close. Women were collecting water from the tap and there was a long queue. A fight broke out among the women and it was a noisy scene. One woman in particular was very abusive. She shouted and screamed and threw her mud pot to the ground and broke it in her anger and walked away. When the dust settled the preacher walked near the crowd and asked if there lived anybody by name Mary. “Oh yes,” came the reply. “You saw one lady breaking the pot and walking away? That’s sister Mary.”
How terrible! People see us before they hear us. Our words must be backed by our life. Live a life that will speak about your Christian faith to others.
