Princy and Gracy were great friends. They went for a walk down the road. The road divided into two. There was a big gateway to one road with a huge arch and banners advertising lots of fun. Princy pulled Gracy, “Come on, let’s go.” Gracy was hesitant. She could see drunkards along that road and wild people. “My mummy has warned me of these things. I am not coming” she said. “I want to go down the road and see” said Princy and entered the gate.
Gracy stood there for a minute watching Princy go happily singing. However she decided to take the other road which was nothing more than a footpath. She took a few steps and stepped on a big thorn. She sat down to take the thorn. From a distance Princy saw her and waved. She was watching an interesting film. Gracy was tempted to go back and enter the arch but decided against it.
She continued to walk along the path. She tripped and fell down and injured her ankle. She limped as she walked. She could see Princy playing electronic games betting the money she had. Her face was glowing with happiness. Princy limped painfully when some stones fell on her. She saw a big cross and ran and hid behind it. When the stones stopped she got up and walked. Dark storm clouds gathered and the thunder and lightning frightened her. Had she chosen the wrong path? Princy was laughing at her from a distance; she was walking through a maze of fun games and shops, heavily lighted and flashy.
Suddenly something terrible happened. Princy was at the end of the road. She was trapped. She could not go back. She fell into a deep burning pit with a loud scream that sent a chill through Gracy’s spine. Gracy looked up. She was at the end of the road.
Jesus stood there with arms open wide. “Come Gracy, come. All your troubles are over. No more sorrow, no more pain” said Jesus and embraced her. Her pain in the ankle disappeared. All the dark clouds were gone. It was bright and shiny. Yes, she was in heaven!
The Bible speaks of two gates and two roads. Never choose the wide gate and broad road full of evils. The way to heaven is a narrow road full of problems and pain. But if you bear the cross, you will wear the crown!
