A god-fearing family lived in a small town. It comprised of mummy, daddy and two children. Daddy worked and Mummy took care of the home. When daddy came home in the evening they all went for a walk to the park. Then, children did their homework and studied. After family prayer they went to bed.
One day, daddy brought with him a stranger and said he would live in the house. Though everybody was hesitant, soon they all took a liking for him. He talked very interestingly. He drew beautiful pictures and told jokes and made them all laugh. His songs held them in a grip and his stories were absorbing.
At first he talked only now and then but children loved him so much that after breakfast they sat with him without reading their Bible or even praying. Evening the entire family spent time with him and stopped going to the park. Sometimes he talked late into the night and they had no time for family prayer. Mummy objected. It was when the kids took their food to sit with him as they ate that daddy realized something was wrong. Another contributing factor was that children forgot the choruses and started singing the songs the stranger taught.
The stranger was taking up all their time. They had no time for each other and they hardly talked to one another. Children were going down in their studies. With great difficulty daddy coaxed him into a room. He was called for only when they needed him.
The family was restored back to their old godly ways.
Have you recognized this stranger? He is none other than Mr. TV! Do not spend too much time in front of the TV or even computer. It is not good for your body or soul.
