Donald was all excited to go to the Fishing Competition. About ten kilometers from his house was a big lake. Every year a Fishing Competition was conducted. People from far and near would come with their fishing rods. The one who caught the biggest fish was awarded a gold medal. The competition was from 10 in the morning to 10 in the night.
Donald and his dad started in their car. 10 am all competitors sat on the shore with their fishing rods in water. “One kg” shouted someone at 11 a.m. By 12 noon the biggest catch was only 2 kg. Evening 4 pm someone caught a four and a half kg fish and everyone decided it was the prize catch.
As darkness fell some started to leave. But Donald persisted. “Let’s wait dad,” he begged. 9.45 dad started packing his things. “No dad, only 15 minutes more. I’ll sit till 10” pleaded Donald. 10 p.m he got up disappointed. Suddenly there was a tug of his rod. It was 10.02. Donald needed his dad’s help to pull the catch. It was a grand big fish. They weighed it and found it to be 5kg. “Dad!” shouted Don. “But it was 10.02 Don,” insisted his father. Don’s face fell. But he accepted his father’s verdict and let the fish go in the water. The creature swished its tail and disappeared.
That was a lesson for his life. All through his life Donald never forgot what his father had taught — honesty.
Be always honest before God and man.
