Failed in NEET? Failed in Plus Two? Failed to get admission to a desired college? Failure in something is not a failure in life. The Bible is full of people who turned failure into success. Peter is a classic example. He who denied the Lord Jesus thrice and wept bitterly over his failure became a great Apostle. Paul is another example of a murderer turned Apostle. He was pestered by his past but decided to put the past behind his back and wrote, "One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Phil 3:13,14). Failure is an opportunity for the devil to destroy you. But it is an opportunity for God to build you up, make your life beautiful, and put the devil to shame. So run into the outstretched arms of God!
Boaz calls Ruth a damsel or young woman. Too early in life, she arrived at a dead end. But she was one who would fight her battles to the end. What next, was her question. She decided to go by what she thought was the best road. There was nothing promising in the beginning. Life was dreary. She and her mother-in-law were just making ends meet. But she was not lazy. She went out and found a menial job. But gradually the rays of light started penetrating into the deep darkness they were engulfed in. Then the sun shone.
Too many young people give up on life too soon. Either they end their life or turn to alcohol and drugs. Life is not easy. It is a hard path. But if you determinedly trudge along, you will one day hoist a flag. Mary Magdalene would have felt desperate with seven demons inside her and ostracized by people. But she started her new life with Jesus and ended with her name recorded in the Bible as the first missionary to carry the good news of the resurrection. Never give up on life. You have a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Put your life in His hands and go ahead on the path you think will be best for you. Do not let discouragement overtake you. Face courageously whatever life throws at you. The journey is long but live one day at a time.
What you should not do are:
1. Laziness: I see able-bodied people rising from bed late. They beg people to help them. They give a lot of excuses. "He who rises late must trot all day" is a proverb. On the other hand, I have also seen I.T. professionals selling chikis during the Covid shutdown. The harder you work the luckier you get. Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure. It is not impossible for a lazy person to become active. Get smart!
2. Giving up: Never come to the conclusion that it is all over. Life is never over till you give up on it. Discouragement is a demon that will paralyze you. Always remember God's word that He will never leave you nor forsake you, if you put your trust in Him (Heb 13:5). The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. So arouse yourself, trust in God, and take the first step.
3. Succumb to circumstances: Jabez was born under gloomy circumstances. When he grew up he asked God to bless him. His mother thought he would be a pain in her neck (Jabez means "He will cause pain"). But he made her proud by excelling his brothers (1Chron 4:9, 10). Do not be discouraged by looking at your circumstances. Jump over all hurdles and keep moving forward. Rise above your circumstances and like Jabez bring pride to your family.
Life doesn't make us. We make life. Negative thinking will never make your life positive. Faith is not, knowing what the future holds, but who holds your future. When you see no road ahead, just hold on. At the right time, God will open the way for you. Like Ruth, you will find sunshine in your life!
