Ramu and Shekar always went to school together. On the way a dog would bark at them. Ramu would be scared and walk close to Shekar. Shekar would throw a stone and chase the dog away.
One day Shekar did not come to school and Ramu had to go alone. He told his mother his fear. She told him not to throw a stone but go quietly. Ramu did as he was told. The sleeping dog lifted up its head, saw him and then lied down. He told his mother what happened. His mother said, that because Shekar threw a stone, it barked at him and not at Ramu.
The next day Ramu told Shekar what happened and what his mother told him. They bought a biscuit packet and fed the dog. The dog wagged its tail and became their friend.
If we follow non-violence, not only people, animals and birds will also become our friends.
