Panneer was in his tenth grade. He was very good in football and other sports and games and won many accolades. His parents were happy and proud. But one thing bothered them. He was not good in studies. His marks were very low and he had failed in some subjects. In spite of his parents’ advice his interest was games and sports.
His mother devised a plan to put some sense into him. It was Saturday. Panneer sat down for lunch. Mummy served him rice and sat in front of him. “Eat” she said. Panneer blinked. “How can I eat plain rice amma? Where is curry and vegetable?” he asked puzzled.
“Do you understand?” asked mother. “Games are necessary to build up your body and studies are important for mental growth. Both are like two eyes. You should not concentrate on the one and neglect the other.” So saying amma served curry and vegetable with a smile. Panneer understood the truth and put himself heart and soul in his studies.
Studies are important for coming up in life. It means your future.
