An old woman was frying vadas under a tree and selling them. The crow on the tree was dripping saliva. She begged, “Grandma, grandma, your vadas look so delicious. Will you please give me one?” The lady said: “Only if you pay.” “I don’t have money,” lamented the crow. “Then you do one thing. Do some help for me and I will give you vada,” said she.
The crow thought for some time. Then it flew into the forest and brought a dry stick on its beak and dropped it near the lady. It kept on flying back and forth bringing more sticks. Now the granny had enough sticks to keep the fire going.
The granny was very happy. “I appreciate your labour. Stealing and begging are very wrong. That’s why I encouraged you to work. Here take this vadai,” said the granny. The crow flew away happily with the vadai.
Those who don’t work should not eat. Help at home and delight your parents.
