There was once a king and a queen who had no baby. After many years a baby daughter was born. They wanted to celebrate the occasion with a grand party inviting all the fairies. Birds carried the invitation to all the fairies. Sadly, one invitation fell in a lake. It was the invitation to the wicked fairy Carabos. She was furious.
At the party, when all the fairies blessed the baby, Carabos cast a spell on the baby saying, “On your fifteenth birthday, you will prick your finger on a spindle, and die!”
All were very worried. All the good fairies put their powers together and changed the curse a wee bit: “The princess will sleep for a hundred years when she pricks her finger.” The King had all the spindles in the country broken and all needles banned. Everybody was happy.
The baby grew into a beauty and reached her fifteenth birthday. As everybody was busy with the party, the princess wandered into the town. She saw a little door and steps leading up. She went up and found an old lady spinning in a wheel. The princess had never seen a spindle and she was fascinated. The old lady called her to try the wheel and in one terrible instant the wicked spell of Carabos took effect. The princess pricked her finger and fell down. Carabos disappeared with a wicked laughter.
Throughout the kingdom, nothing moved for very many years. The grass, the bushes and hedges around the palace grew tall and thick. Until one day, a brave prince decided to try and discover the truth. He explored the forests and cut through it to reach the town. He discovered the little door and walked up the stairs. There he saw a lovely princess sleeping on the floor. He fell in love with her at once. As he bent to kiss her, she woke up and smiled.
The kingdom came alive! The birds began to sing. The long sleep was broken. The king and queen came searching for their daughter. The prince and princess were married.
Are you afraid of curses or evil spells? Never fear, Jesus Christ has broken all the curses in our life and has blessed us with eternal life. Believe on Him!
