Madhavan was walking along a riverbed when he saw a sparkling stone. He thought it could be a valuable stone and took it to a jeweller. The jeweller knew it was a diamond but wanted to cheat Madhavan. So he said, “This is a good stone but not a precious one. So I can pay Rs. 2000/- for this stone.” Madhavan said, “Take it for 3000 rupees.” But the jeweller didn’t want to pay more. In the meanwhile another jeweller in the jewelry shop took out Rs. 3000/- and got the stone from Madhavan. The first jeweller Ratnakar got angry with Madhavan and said, “You fool, you gave away a diamond for 3000/- rupees not knowing the value.” Madhavan quickly replied, “You could have got it for Rs. 3000/-. You are a greater fool than me.”
Many of us are like Madhavan. We do not know the value of eternal life. We are surrounded by devils who will trade with us to take away our eternal life. The whole world is not worth losing our eternal life. Hold fast to it.
