Paramasivam and his wife were speeding in an auto with their daughter Devi to catch the train. “Go fast, we are already late,” said the father to the auto driver.
Suddenly twelve year old Devi cried, “Stop the auto.” She got down and ran to the old lady who had swooned near the edge of the road. Devi sprinkled water from her water bottle on her face. The old lady opened her eyes and on seeing the child signaled that she had not eaten. Devi shouted, “Papa, bring a packet of food that we had parcelled for the journey.” “We are already late. Give her this twenty rupees and let us keep going,” said her father. “No papa, how will she go and buy food?” said Devi and ran to the auto. She brought a parcel and the twenty rupees and gave to the lady. She ran back and got into the auto. “We may miss the train,” said the father.
As they entered the Railway Station they heaved a sigh on hearing the announcement that their train was late by ten minutes. Papa hugged his daughter.
God helps those who help the poor.
