He was the sexton in the Church ringing the bell. He was past sixty and uneducated. He was working in the Church for the past forty years. A new pastor took over the Church. He told Judah the sexton that he must learn to read and write within a month or he would be sacked. So Judah was sacked after a month.
On his way home Judah wanted to have a cup of tea. But no tea shop was in sight. “Many would be longing for a cup of tea like me. Why not start a tea shop,” he thought. So he started a tea shop. Within a few years he had many branches and he became very rich.
He went to the bank to open an account. When the bank manager gave him a form and said, “Sir, read the form, fill it up and put your signature.” Judah said, “Sir, I am illiterate. You please read the form for me.” “If you can’t read and write and you became a rich guy, what would you have become if you can read and write?” exclaimed the manager. “I’ll be ringing the bell in the Church,” said Judah.
