The King of the jungle conducted a competition. Each animal should tell a joke. If all other animals laugh then the joker gets a prize. Even if one animal fails to laugh the joker gets two beatings. First the monkey came and said a joke. All animals roared with laughter. But the tortoise did not laugh. So the monkey got two beatings and took his place sorely. Then the deer came and told them a joke. All held their hips and laughed but the tortoise did not. So the deer got two slaps and went with wet eyes. It was the giraffe’s turn now. He came forward trembling and looked at the tortoise. The tortoise laughed and laughed and laughed. Looking at the tortoise, all animals laughed. The King asked the tortoise why he laughed even before a joke was told. The tortoise said, “Only now I understood the joke told by the monkey.” The giraffe escaped beatings. There are some people who are by nature slow and dull. Do not get angry with them. Try to understand their problem. Good comes from them too.
