A priest gave a king a mango and told him to eat it after ten days. The king gave it to his prime minister and asked him to bring it after ten days. After ten days the minister brought the fruit in a tray, neatly washed and cut. The king and queen ate the very tasty fruit.
The king said, “I am so sorry, we ate the whole of it without sparing something for you.” “No problem,” said the minister, “a time will come for me to enjoy it.”
Five years rolled by. One day while the darbar was going on a man brought baskets of mangoes. The flavour filled the hall. The king ordered all his ministers to enjoy the fruit. The fruit was as tasty as the one he ate five years ago.
The king asked the prime minister about it. He said, “Dear king, five years ago I gave you the mango and planted the seed. Today we all are enjoying in plenty. We shall collect the seeds and have a grove, so all our people can enjoy it.”
