Freedom fight was going on in India. People were dying of hunger, poverty, diseases, ignorance, blind beliefs and communal fights. Three freedom fighters entered a hut and begged the poor old woman for food. She was attending to her sick son, but knowing they were freedom fighters, she refreshed them by giving water and quickly proceeded to cook. After eating, they gave her Rs. 2,000/- to treat her sick son but she refused to accept. One of them, Makanlal, said, “There is a ransom of one lakh rupees on my head. Please betray me and get the money.” The woman stood up straight with fire in her eyes and said, “I will never betray you for cheap money. You are the blessing of India. Come here if you need anything. My son will join you when he recovers.” The man blessed her and said, “You have played your role in freeing India.” Love your country and serve your country instead of going to other countries seeking a comfortable life.
