A mad man was tearing his shirt and dhoti, laughing and crying and beating himself. Young and old who saw him, made fun of him and laughed as they passed by. A retired army veteran who saw this, took him to a mental health centre. Gradually he became alright and learned a trade. People praised the army officer. After sometime, two parties clashed in the temple due to a difference of opinion. They tore each other’s shirts and dhotis and shouted. The veteran and the healed man watched the scene with sorrow. They made peace between the parties and conducted the festival peacefully. The temple committee made the once mad man as their counselor. When we see someone suffering we must think, “That could be me. God could have put me there. But He has kept me in a position to help,” and be quick to do what we can do to the sufferer.
