“Do you see someone skilled in his work? He will serve before kings;he will not serve before officials of low rank” (Prov 22:29; Ex 35:25)
1. I decide to do my work to the best of my ability. I will keep in mind that God is my Master and I work for Him. I will not do eye- service but be like the skilled women in the wilderness (Eph 6:6).
2. I decide not to procrastinate any work because of laziness or carelessness. I will be time-conscious and try to accomplish maximum within the working hours.
3. I decide not to be lazy (Prov 19:15). I will not be idly talking with coworkers or talking over the mobilephone for personal matters and waste time. I will not be sleepy during working hours. I will have a coffee and perk up. I will be punctual.
4. I decide to respect my superior and be obedient to him with all sincerity. I will respect him and not talk ill of him behind his back. I will appreciate his good moves and point out his mistakes politely like the wise woman of Tekoa (Eph 6:5; 2 Sam 14).
5. I decide to treat my subordinates with grace. I will be kind and polite to them. I will care for them like the woman of Proverbs
31 and be ready to listen to their complaints with an open mind. I
will not shout at them or beat them (Eph 6:9).
6. I decide not to make work my god. I will not overwork for money. I will not neglect my family. I will not carry home files. I will not accept a promotion if it would take me away from my family. I will not let my devotions be affected because of office work.
7. I decide to improve my work. I will work hard and show progress. Work will not be a dull routine, rather I will be innovative and try to incorporate new ideas. I will love my work.
8. I decide to be content with my salary. I will not take nor give bribe. I will not be involved in strikes for pay hike (Lk 3:12-14).
9. I decide to maintain a cordial and clean relationship will all coworkers. I will help in their work whenever possible. I will not be involved in office politics but be committed to my work only. I w ill pray for them and w itness to them lik e Naaman’s maid (2 Ki 5:3).
10. I decide to fear God in whatever I do. I will not submit to any ungodly demand by my boss or office. I will stand by my con- viction and honour God. My life shall be a testimony in my workspot.
“Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Mt 25:21)
