Reading: Hebrews 10:32-39
“Do not thow away your confidenc;it will be richly rewarded” (Heb 10:35)
“Jacob put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last” (Gen 33:2). If Esau started slaughtering, Jacob wanted the maid-servants, Leah and their children to be killed first so that Rachel and Joseph would have a fair chance of escape. Do you think the maids or Leah could not guess Jacob’s intentions? Most certainly they did and braced themselves for the attack. But God changed Esau’s heart that he got to meet the maids, their children, Leah and children first before meeting Rachel and her son. What an honour to the despised ones!
I was to share in a conference for 15 minutes. Though my turn was earlier the other ladies pushed me last. By the time I got on the dais it was past 1 pm and people were yawning and sliding back on their chairs. But when I started speaking they sat up straight. After 5 minutes a lady pulled my sari from behind. But I continued. When I climbed down the stage people hurried to meet me and shake hands. This has happened to me time and again and I have learnt valuable lessons.
The last will become first and the least will become the best so that God will get all the glory (1 Cor 1:27-29). When the world deals unfairly with you, worry not. God’s eyes are on you. He lifts up the lowly. He raises the poor from the dust (1 Sam 2:8).
It is not by strength that one prevails (1 Sam 2:9). So when you see people trying to overtake you by pushing you aside rudely and unfairly, do not fret. Relax. Leave everything in God’s hand and be doing your best. God’s eyes are roving throughout the earth to show Himself mighty to the righteous (2 Chr 16:9).
Women might have felt sad that 33% was not reserved for women in the apostolic bench. But they faithfully went to the grave and lo! They met Jesus there before all the apostles. And of them, the prominent was the one who was once possessed by seven evil spirits. Probably she was not allowed in the front row. But she was God’s choice to meet His Son first after His resurrection.
Take heart, God is just!
