“In You the fatherless find compassion” (Hos 14:3)
My dear, where are you? In a home or orphanage? Are you longing to see the face of your father or mother? Are you wondering who brought you into this world? May be your heart is bleeding. Nobody can understand one without father or mother. Neither will you find enough and proper words to express your sorrow. It is terrible to be a nobody’s child in this world. But let me try to comfort you —
First of all, you are not a nobody’s child. You have a Father and a Mother. Take comfort in the thought that there is someone who cares for you like your own parents. The Psalmist says, “When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me” Psa 27:10). May be He is not visible. But He is seeing you, hearing you and watching over you. Talk to Him. Tell Him everything. Pour out your feelings to Him. You can even get angry with Him; He understands.
Esther was an orphan. Whenever Mordecai disciplined, she would have cried thinking of her parents. She might have thought if she had her parents, things would have been better. But she kept herself under Mordecai’s authority and was catapulted to heights. It was God’s doing.
Wherever you may be, never give up hope. Hope is the handle of life. If the handle is broken life will be wasted. So hope even if your situation looks hopeless. Make the best out of life. My maternal grandfather, Mr. Daniel Thomas, was an orphan who grew up in a relative’s home. An orphan girl used to serve him food as he sat on the floor on a mat. One day drops fell on his food and when he looked up, he found her weeping. He vowed to marry that girl when he found a job. He become an advocate and married the girl. He became the minister for electricity in the Tamilnadu Go v ernment. He wa s the f i rst Indi a n to be i n the Si mo n Commission. He was a godly man.
The Psalmist confessed to God, “You are the Helper of the fatherless” (Psa 10:14). “He is a Father of the fatherless” (Psa
68:5). Try to please the one who is taking care of you. You must
work hard, harder and hardest to come up in life. You will learn lessons along the way and one day even praise God for being an orphan!
