No Laughing Matter!
Reading: Genesis 18:1-15
“Why did Sarah laugh?” (Gen 18:13)
We laugh too at God’s promises. God’s miracle may not come in the way we imagine. It may come in some other form. I was so sick when I was born that my parents thought I’d die soon. But I saw my 5th year. Then they thought I may not see my teen years but I survived my teen years too. Now I am 72 (2018) and still going strong. I use an inhaler for my severe asthma but lead a normal life. I call that drug a miracle. I call the doctor who prescribed it for me a miracle. I know many couples who have miracle babies, babies born after many years. I also know many couples who have miracle babies whom they adopted. That I believe is not a lesser miracle.
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” God asked Sarah (Gen 18:14). It is a question and you know the answer. The angel gives the answer: “Nothing is impossible with God” (Lk 1:37). Jeremiah talks to God and says, “Nothing is too hard for you” (Jer 32:17). God Himself asks, “Is anything too hard for Me?” (Jer 32:27).
Your situation may look impossible. Have faith in God. The bigger you see God, the greater will be your faith. I often address God as the ALL MIGHTY God. That boosts my faith. Your God is not one of the gods. He is the one and only God, the God of heaven and earth.
Whenever your faith is shaken, sing:
Faith mighty faith the promise sees and looks to God alone; Laughs at impossibilities and cries it shall be done.
Do not be discouraged looking at your faith. Mustard seed faith is enough. Pray, “Lord, I believe. Help me overcome my unbelief” (Mk 9:24). God will answer your prayer according to His will in His own time. Count your every day miracles, from your eyesight to your emptying of bladder and bowels. Then there’ll be no dearth of miracles to praise God for.
Some are instant miracles but some take a long, long time. For me it took nearly forty years to lead a normal life. I had to fight discouragements, suicidal tendencies and doubts. My life path was strewn with broken glasses. My feet bled. But today I am a witness to God’s miracle-working power.
So, muffle your laugh and believe!
