My India, My Love!
Reading: Hosea 6:1-3
“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land” (2 Chr 7:14)
What an awesome responsibility rests on us when God says, if we Christians get right with Him, our nation shall be blessed! We hold the key to the healing of our nation. We have got our freedom at great cost. But now we are losing what we struggled to gain. Disease, poverty, natural calamities and communal riots tear our country to shreds. Our nation is losing its secular fibre as it is invaded by locusts (2 Chr 7:13).
First, let us humble ourselves. Let us not be like Pharaoh, stiff- necked, when God deals with us (Ex 10:3). God leads us through a wilderness to humble us (Dt 8:2). He will revive our spirit and heart if we learn our lessons in humility. Then we must prostrate ourselves at God’s feet for ourselves, for a second conversion. This is not a prayer for our nation, it is a prayerfor ourselves. Let us shed tears. If we Christians do not live like Christians, there is no hope for our nation. Let us get back to God and the Bible. Let us seek His face. Where we are now is not where we should be. We have turned our backs on God. We are looking elsewhere. Let us turn around and face God. He has hid Himself. Let us set right our ways and seek His face. Let the Bible become our guidebook.
Finally, God demands that we turn from our wicked ways. Our spirituality with all its filth is nauseating to God. Let us examine ourselves and ask God to put His finger where we need to change. Let us examine ourselves in the light of the sin lists in the Bible and hack off our sins one by one. “If anyone turns a deaf ear to My instruction, even their prayers are detestable” (Prov 28:9).
If we honestly desire holiness and come to God, He hears our prayers and forgives our sin. He doesn’t stop there. He heals our nation.
Let us stop blaming the government and those who are not called by His name. The problem lies with us. The secret of the healing of our nation is in our hands. Let us not be selfish. Let India become our love. Let us open up the way for God to bless our nation. Love your country like Deborah (Judges 4,5).
