“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?” (2 Cor 6:14,15)
Nowadays girls mature very fast because of unhealthy food and turn very promiscuous because of exposure to media and the like. They are thrown together with the opposite sex too early, before an age when they learn to handle their hormones. The result is that they fall in love too early and too rashly. By the time they realize that they are stuck with the wrong person, they are far too gone.
If such is your case, if you are stuck with the wrong person and you realize it and want to walk out of the relationship, let me give you some advice —
First of all, be assured that it is right to break a wrong promise. Don’t feel guilty to break up a wrong relationship because you have promised. Even if you have touched, hugged, kissed or even had sex, do not go ahead with a relationship, once you realize you are entangled with the wrong person.
Pray that the Lord will make the boy himself to leave you. Pray that God will give you the wisdom to do it. Give the whole matter in God’s hand and intercede for His help and guidance. If you need help, confide in your parents or elders.
Be gentle. The boy will feel cheated and let down. Do not try to break up gradually. It will not work. The jilted boy may try to have his clutches on you. So be gently firm. Tell him how sorry you feel and that your relationship has no future. Tell him that he will have an unpleasant marriage if he marries you, because you are committed to a different cause. Tell him that he will be happier marrying a girl who has the same mind like him.
It is not easy as I have said. But you have a great God with whom all things are possible. It is going to hurt you too. But in due course you will come out of the pain and be able to make a wiser choice.
