Worthy Woman
Reading: Acts 16:13-15,38-40
“A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies” (Prov 31:10)
Worthy is the woman who, like Eve, in spite of a shameful failure will courageously go ahead with life and fulfil God’s will for her life.
Worthy is the woman who, like Noah’s wife, be willing to play her role in God’s Kingdom, though her name may not be published.
Worthy is the woman who, like Rahab, be willing to forsake the old life and be willing to embrace the new life in Christ.
Worthy is the woman who, like Esther, will always remember her low estate from where God raised her to be a queen.
Worthy is the woman who, like Elizabeth, is righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly, though her prayer goes unanswered.
Worthy is the woman who, like Mary the mother of Jesus, knows when to speak and when to keep things in her heart.
Worthy is the woman who, like Peter’s mother-in-law, will be grateful and willing to serve God for the blessing she received.
Worthy is the woman who, like Ruth, will never forsake their loved ones in their lonely hours.
Worthy is the woman who, like the Canaanite woman, will not take no for an answer from God but stoop down to call herself a dog and demand a positive answer.
Worthy is the woman who, like Pilate’s wife, will do her utmost to save the life of a just man.
Worthy is the woman who, like Joanna the wife of Chuza, will support God’s work out of her own means.
Worthy is the woman who, like the unnamed woman with a bleeding disorder, will unashamedly testify in the presence of all.
Worthy is the woman who, like Mary, will sit at Jesus’ feet and hear His word, not worried and troubled about too many things.
Worthy is the woman who, like Priscilla, will suffer persecution and yet strive to bring the lost into the Kingdom.
Worthy is the woman who, like Lydia, will give herself to hospitality for the furtherance of the Gospel.
Are you a worthy woman?
