Decisions of a Teacher

Reading: Psalm 105:16-22 

“You, who teach others, do you not teach yourself?” (Rom 2:21) 

1.  I decide to be a model to my students. My students will learn more from my being than from my teaching. 
2.  I decide to know the names of my students. I will personally know them, not just in classroom but their background too.
3. I decide to be punctual. I will be conscious of the time I spend in teaching. I will not waste time.
4. I decide to show no partiality between the rich and the poor, the bright and dull. I will take efforts to help the dull students.
5. Dumping lessons down their throat to complete the portions will not be my aim. I decide to develop my students on all the areas of their life. I will observe their physical and mental health. I decide to be a friend to each of them so they would want to come to me when they face problems in life.
6. I decide to come prepared for the lessons I have to teach. I will not fumble while teaching. If I do not know something, I will honestly tell the students so and promise them to find out.
7. I decide not to be rude to the students. I will not get angry. I will be patient. I will not use crude and painful means to punish them. I will not use foul words to scold them. I will not be too hasty to punish before knowing the truth.
8. I decide to instil the fear of God in my students. I will help them develop a sharp conscience. I will teach them moral values. I will find some means to introduce Christ to them. The salvation of their souls will be my burden. I will have their names in my diary and pray for them.
9. I decide not to put too much pressure on my students. I will help them grow at their own pace. I will encourage those who fail. I will give them the courage to face life and live it to the full. I will help them overcome any complex they may be suffering from.
10. I decide to keenly observe my students. If I notice sadness or ill health, I will do the needful. I will help the poor students by giving them financial aid, clothes, food or any other necessities of life.
