When women fold their hands ...
Reading: Acts 12:5-17
“My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king,
which is against the law; and if I perish I perish!” (Esth 4:16)
Esther and her maids changed history by looking up to God. They neither ate nor drank for three days, night and day. They were tender women who could not stand against the power of Haman. They understood that they wrestled not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. These delicate darlings were no match for the evil forces coming down on Israel. So they went to the source of power and won. Instead of defeat there was victory and celebration.
When Peter was released from prison by an angel, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John Mark where many women had gathered and were praying (Acts 12:12). Peter’s release was an answer to prayer. If Peter had been decapitated by Herod, today we wouldn’t have the Epistles of Peter. Thanks to women who changed history.
To emphasize persistent prayer Jesus took up the example of a woman, a helpless widow. Through this parable Jesus taught us to ‘always’ pray and to never lose heart. She ‘kept coming’ to him with the same plea. She was not ready to take ‘No’ for an answer. ‘For some time he refused,’ then he relented. The conclusion of His teaching was, “However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Lk 18:1-8). So persistent prayer is faith.
Women should take up prayer as a ministry. “I looked for some one among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. ‘So’ I will pour out My wrath on them” (Ezek 22:30,31). Our prayer is powerful to block God’s anger.
Let us, women of God, called by His name, humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, so that He would hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal India (2 Chr 7:14). Our prayer will change the history of India. Pray alone or get just one woman to pray with you and witness miracles.
