A young man came to Hudson Taylor and announced that he was going to China as a missionary. They were sitting across a small wooden table on which cups of tea were laid. Hudson started pounding the table with his fist making the teacups to jump and spill over. The young man was wondering what was happening. Hudson explained: “There will be problems, trials, temptations, hardships, heartbreaks. These will be like blows. Remember, these blows will bring out only what is in you.”
