A cluster of grapes was hanging in the vineyard. The owner came and saw it. He then fondled it. The cluster was very happy. The owner called the gardener and instructed him to spray insecticide so that insects would not spoil the grapes. He told him to nicely till the soil around the vine and put manure. “Our master is a very good man,” said the grapes.
The cluster was very proud to be in the yard. Its colour changed to deep red and it became very sweet. One day workers came and plucked it and put it in water. Though the plucking was painful the cool bath was refreshing. Workers washed the grapes and threw them in a vat. Then the torture began. Workers got into the vat and started crushing the grapes with their feet.
They stomped and stomped till grape blood ran out of the vat into a big container. The grapes screamed and cried. They could not tolerate the pain. They said, “Our master is a cruel man. He has no heart.” There was further processing.
At last they were bottled and became grape juice. People drank it and said, “Wonderful! Where did you get such sweet grapes?” The grapes were overjoyed. They talked among themselves: “If we had hung on the vine, we would have become rotten and useless.
See, what great idea our master had. Now we are useful to so many and we are a blessing to others.”
As long as we are selfish, we cannot be a blessing to others. If we give ourselves in our Master’s hand to go through painful training, He will make us a blessing to many.
