A man was making a statue. There was another statue exactly like that near him. A tourist visiting the studio asked why he was making another statue exactly like that. The sculptor said, “There is a flaw in that one. That’s why.” The visitor took a
closer look but could not find fault with the statue. He said, “There is no need for you to make another statue. This one is flawless.” “Take a closer look,” said the sculptor. “There is a scratch in the left cheek.” The visitor saw the scratch and said,
“When you erect the statue on a pedestal people can’t see the scratch.” The artist replied, “Yes, people can’t see it, but I can. I am not working for others. I am working for my own satisfaction. I don’t want flaws in my work!”
Work till you are fully satisfied with your work. Shoddy work doesn’t take you to heights.
