Remember the Poor!

Revathy took her son to the doctor and complained, “Doctor, he has no appetite. Even if we give Horlicks or apple he refuses to take. Please give something to improve his appetite.” The doctor examined him, did some blood tests and prescribed a tonic. They bought the tonic and got into the car.

A poor beggar woman with a skin and bone baby came begging to them asking: “Iyya, Amma, please give something. My baby is hungry and I have nothing to give.” Revathy turned the other side. Her husband took a twenty rupee note and gave her. Revathy 

objected: “Why do you give twenty rupees to a beggar?” Her husband replied: “Our son has no appetite. We have spent 500 rupees on doctor’s fees, blood tests and tonic. Here is a hungry child with no food. Is it wrong to give 20 rupees?” Revathy saw his
point.
