The Tamil Poet Kannadasan was invited to speak in a Students Conference. He was to speak on the subject, ‘Times and Poems.’ Before he spoke, a student read a poem. No one clapped his hands. Then Mr. Kannadasan read a poem and concluded. There was standing ovation. Mr. Kannadasan rose up after the rythmic clapping died down and said, “No one clapped when the student read a poem. It was actually my poem. But the poem I read was his! Times are such that a poem is welcomed according to who reads it. This is what is meant by ‘Times and Poems.’” The auditorium erupted into a wild laughter!
Be honest in appreciating people. Flattery is not good.
