Bobby was 8 years old. He had difficulty controlling his emotions and tongue. When he got angry he would shout and scream and hurl hurtful words at others.
One day his father gave him 10 big nails and asked him to fix them in the mango tree in their garden. He did so. After a week his father asked him to remove the nails. With great difficulty Bobby removed them. Then his father asked him to close all the
holes made by the nails. Bobby tried, but he could not.
His father said, “Angry words are like nails. They go deep into the hearts of people. The wounds they cause are difficult to heal.”
Bobby put his head down and gradually learned to use gentle and soft words.
Our tongue must be tamed.
