When David Ben Gurion was the Prime Minister of Israel, he always used to carry a locked box in his hand. His opponents charged him saying that he misappropriated funds and carried it in the box. One day in the Parliament his opponents demanded that he open the box. Ben Gurion quietly opened the box and showed them the contents.
There was a small stick and an old coat.
Ben Gurion said, “When I was a lad I grazed sheep for a living. These are the things that I used then. Whenever I see these, I am reminded that I should not be a power-monger or position-monger but that I should always serve the poor. That’s why I am
keeping these things safe.”
Those who accused him were put to shame.
Never forget how the Lord brought you up from a low position.
