Her eyes filled. A lump rose to my throat. I opened my mouth, but words failed. They sank deep into my heart.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
As if to say, “I can’t wait for you. The lost are calling,” the train, like a cruel giant, blew its whistle again, and chugged out of the station, forcefully pulling our fingers apart.
